چکیده

An experimental device and procedure are described for the fully automatic determination of the surface tension of liquids and (particularly) surfactant solutions. The computercontrolled system is capable of yielding precise and reproducible values of that quantity. The possibilities of equilibration times selected by the user. cleaning the surface by suction. and adding fresh solution prior to each measurement are emphasised among other capabilities. As an example. a solution of sodium dodecylsulphate ( mol dm--’) plus sodium chloride ( mol dm-3) is extensively studied.

THE EFFECT OF OILFIELD CHEMICALS ON THE SURFACE TENSION OF SURFACTANT SYSTEMS

Treated sea water is the most significant source of water and surfactant floods. The various chemicals employed in treatment plants should be compatible with surfactant systems. Based on surface tension experiments, the activity of these chemicals is examined over a wide range of concentrations in different solutions, including distillated water, sea water by using three types of surfactant mix...

Experimental Study of Salinity and Ionic Strength Effects on Critical Micelle Concentration of a Cationic Surfactant (HTAB)

The interfacial tension of surfactant solutions is decreased with increasing surfactant concentration to obtain the critical micelle concentration (CMC). After that, the CMC values does not alter much. So this concentration is a critical point during surfactant flooding that is one of the chemical EOR techniques. The reduction of the CMC value is taken into consideration, since the surfactant f...

Salinity Effect on the Surfactant Critical Micelle Concentration through Surface Tension Measurement

One of the tertiary methods for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) is the injection of chemicals into oil reservoirs, and surface active agents (surfactants) are among the most used chemicals. Surfactants lead to increased oil production by decreasing interfacial tension (IFT) between oil and the injected water and to the wettability alteration of the oil reservoir rock. Since surfactants are predomin...

A Novel Bio-based Sulfonic Zwitterionic Surfactant Derived from Transgenic Soybean Oil and its Performance in Surface and Interfacial Activities

Bio-based surfactants have attracted increasing attention due to their renewable resources and excellent surface properties. In this study, a novel bio-based sulfonic zwitterionic surfactant (BSZS) derived from transgenic soybean oil was prepared using a simple reaction route with two steps of the amidation and quaterisation. The bio-based sulfonic zwitterionic surfactant showed a critical mice...

Application of Central Composite Design for Optimization of Coacervative Extraction of Cu(II) Using Anionic Surfactant

The aim of this work was to develop a new and simple coacervative extraction method for the preconcentration and spectrophotometric determination of Cu(II) in water samples. Dithizone was used as the chelating agent while an anionic surfactant, namely sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), was used as extracting agent at room temperature. Central composite design (CCD) based on response surface methodol...
